Widgets put glanceable information and app features right on your iPhone Home Screen. You can add one in a few taps, choose from the sizes an app provides, and arrange it alongside your apps.

- Open the widget gallery.Tap Edit, then Add Widget. The exact button placement may vary slightly by iOS version.
- Find an app and choose a size.Search or scroll to an app, tap it, then swipe through its available widget styles.
- Add and place the widget.Tap Add Widget, drag it where you want while the icons are still jiggling, then tap Done.
These steps follow Apple’s current guide to adding and editing iPhone widgets. Widgets and options depend on the app and your iOS version.
Choose a size that fits the way you use your phone
Widget sizes are chosen in the gallery and vary by app. A compact widget can add a useful detail without taking much space; a wider or larger widget can show more at a glance. Check the preview in the gallery before adding it, and remember that a widget occupies part of your Home Screen grid.
For an easier-to-scan layout, group widgets by purpose. Keep frequently checked information on the first page, give visual widgets some breathing room, and use a Smart Stack when you want to save space by rotating through multiple widgets in one spot.
Edit, move, or remove a widget
Touch and hold a widget to move it. Where an app supports configuration, touch and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget to see its available options. To remove it, touch and hold and choose Remove Widget. Removing a widget from the Home Screen doesn’t necessarily delete its app.
What can I put in a widget?
Apps offer widgets for different jobs: checking a calendar, seeing the weather, tracking a habit, or adding a visual touch to your layout. Some are interactive; others are designed to show information or artwork at a glance. The app’s gallery description and preview help set expectations.
Jubs is creating animated holiday and festival widgets for iPhone. The first collection is Halloween, with three miniature worlds and different widget sizes to explore in the interactive preview. More celebrations are planned as the collection grows.
Common questions
Why can’t I see an app in the widget gallery?
Not every app has a Home Screen widget. Make sure the app is installed and up to date, then search for its name in the gallery. If the developer offers widgets, they should appear there.
Can I change a widget’s size after adding it?
Available options differ by app and iOS version. If the size cannot be changed in the widget’s edit menu, remove it and add it again from the gallery using another size.
Can I put widgets and app icons together?
Yes. Arrange them on the Home Screen together, moving each item while the icons are jiggling. You can add widgets to different Home Screen pages too.
